Where Our Favorite Destination Weddings Are

January 5, 2026 • By Graison

Over the years, I've had the privilege of documenting weddings in some of the most stunning locations around the world. Each destination brings its own energy, light, and sense of place that becomes woven into the fabric of a couple's story.

After photographing more than 50 countries, certain places have left an indelible mark on me—not just for their beauty, but for the way they allow love to unfold naturally against extraordinary backdrops.

The Amalfi Coast, Italy

There's something about the Italian coastline that feels timeless. The terraced lemon groves, the ceramic-tiled churches perched on cliffsides, the way golden hour light reflects off the Tyrrhenian Sea—it all creates a sense of romance that needs no embellishment.

I've photographed intimate elopements in Positano and grand celebrations in Ravello, and what strikes me every time is how the landscape naturally frames moments. You don't have to work hard to find beauty here; it's in every cobblestone, every vine-covered terrace, every sunset.

Tulum, Mexico

Tulum offers something entirely different: raw, bohemian elegance. The cenotes, the turquoise Caribbean waters, the ancient Mayan ruins—there's a spiritual quality to this place that draws couples looking for something beyond traditional luxury.

The light in Tulum is soft and warm, filtering through palm fronds and casting dappled shadows on white sand beaches. I love how relaxed couples become here. The environment encourages barefoot ceremonies, flowing fabrics, and an ease that translates beautifully on camera.

Santorini, Greece

The whitewashed architecture and deep blue domes of Santorini create one of the most iconic wedding backdrops in the world. But beyond the postcard views, what I appreciate most is the Mediterranean light—brilliant and clear, with sunsets that paint the caldera in shades of pink and orange.

Santorini weddings often feel cinematic. The dramatic cliffs, the contrast between white buildings and azure sea, the winding pathways through Oia—every element conspires to create images that feel both ethereal and grounded in a specific place.

Provence, France

The lavender fields, stone farmhouses, and vineyard landscapes of Provence offer a quieter kind of elegance. This is where couples come when they want their wedding to feel like a weekend retreat with their closest people, set against rolling hills and endless blue sky.

I'm drawn to the way natural light behaves in Provence—soft and diffused, perfect for capturing genuine emotion without harsh shadows. The region's emphasis on food, wine, and unhurried celebration creates an atmosphere where moments unfold organically.

Kyoto, Japan

Photographing weddings in Kyoto has taught me about intentionality and restraint. The minimalist aesthetic of traditional Japanese gardens, the ceremonial precision of Shinto rituals, the way cherry blossoms frame temple gates—everything here speaks to mindfulness and presence.

What I love most about documenting weddings in Japan is the cultural depth. Every gesture carries meaning, every detail is considered. As a photographer, it challenges me to be more observant, to capture not just what's visible but what's felt.

Why Destination Matters

These places aren't just beautiful settings—they become part of the story. The location influences how a couple moves through their day, what they prioritize, how their guests interact. A wedding in the Italian countryside feels fundamentally different from one on a Greek island, not just visually but emotionally.

When couples choose a destination wedding, they're making a statement about what matters to them: adventure, intimacy, cultural connection, or simply creating an experience that their guests will remember for years. My job is to honor that intention and capture how the place shapes their celebration.

If you're considering a destination wedding, I'd love to hear where you're dreaming of going. Each location brings its own magic, and I'm here to help you document it authentically.
